No rating yet ~ Wear your LARP Alliance Tshirts if ya got em! Get one if ya don't! :D ~ We also like to see costumes whenever you feel the desire to wear yours to practice. Once a month we all dress up to the hilt and snazz-out the practice field too! ~ This is a beginner to intermediate level fighter practice. The term fighter practice was coined decades ago by one of the first LARPs, the IFGS. A class-based system, their "fighter" class inspired the term (combat practice is a more generalized term that is being used more nowadays). At this practice, we teach the basics; how to use boffer, latex, or hybrid LARP weapons in combat and how combats play out in a Live Combat LARP. The safe and consistent use of these weapons is of primary importance to the practice. Additionally, skill levels begin to improve almost immediately when practices are attended on a regular basis. Terminology that is used in games, from oog (out of game) calls to actual in-game mechanic calls are covered; we try to use different systems calls in a manner that is not confusing to the newcomer Some basics information regarding playing out roles in games are addressed; my perspective is that it comes naturally to most. In the near future, we will be compiling a composite system from the systems being used in the area; and create mini-characters to use in small story arcs and encounters. These can be used in the various combat games we run at this practice, and more heavily used in the more advanced practice we plan on running in the near future. All are welcome, and as many questions that you can think of. We do have a short supply of weapons to loan out (we run weapon-building days to help everyone build their own basic sword), and have Iron Liege gear on hand to gawk at. :) |

7pm-9pm (or later, depending on everyone's energy, most Meetups have lasted until 10pm) 7-8 Starbucks (next to Border's Book Store) 8-10 We typically move the meeting to a place to eat; Round Table Pizza, Souplantation, Lucilles or just making a run to the grocery store and heading back to our place. There is no particular place. Depending on whether we get new people to introduce LARP to or not, the conversations wander - sometimes about someone's player character, a game someone was at, etc. If we do get newbs I usually start by launching into a history lesson; sometimes followed up by game mechanic, basic definitions, our local Calendar, our programs, and how to get into a game. We do often have conversations of what the LARP Alliance is working on in terms of strengthening and growing the hobby, locally and abroad. Many of the people that attend the meetup are Board members on the Alliance, or members of a subcommittee. We also equally goof off and just have great conversation. Call me at 951) 809-1091 if you need directions or to verify what restaurant we might have moved to. Any suggestions for future locations or days, please email us via http://www.LARPSpace Rick McCoy and Adrianne Grady |

Beyond the Veil - Legacy of Devastation Gate Codes: Location: Camp Trask Directions to Trask Scout Reservation This campsite does not have cabins, so we will be tent camping. It does have a full kitchen, however, and more importantly a fortress. Yes, a fortress. Check the website for info. Date: Friday, October 30th to Sunday, November 1st - Note that this is Halloween weekend. Time: Games begins at 7:00 PM on Friday. Game ends at noon on Sunday. PC Game Fee: $30 for new players, $80 for current players. Character Creation for New Players: *Food is not provided by Game Staff for this event. Please bring your own food. If you want to coordinate food with a group, please do so on the Live Effects forums at http://www.onlineeff Lore: Several organizations have forged a temporary treaty to guard Botheas’ next target – the sentient artifact known as the Tree of Life. Located within the city of Terisgard, the tree utilizes its powers to bolster its defenders, giving the living some scant hope of surviving the coming onslaught. Representatives of each faction have arrived at the tree, putting their age-old disputes on hold as they prepare as best they can for the tide of the dead that approaches. As the undead cleave their way through all opposition, a rumor reaches the defenses of the city – Botheas himself has taken to the field, leading his army into battle. He wields god-like powers, striking down all that oppose him. Whispered prayers come to no avail as the monster advances, seemingly unstoppable. What hope to mortals have against the might of a demigod and his legions? Rules: -Potions must be phys-repped and physically "drank". Plot can provide phys reps if you have your item tags. *Special Rule*- For this game only, you gain the benefit of the aura of rejuvenating energy from the Tree of Life. All players have 20 Additional Energy and 1 Additional Rank of Energy Regeneration for this event only. This rule is subject to change at any time. Sleeping Rules: If you choose to take this approach, please inform Plot of anything you are doing to protect your tent, hut, tree, or whatever you are choosing to sleep in. Plot can provide markers to designate that your actual tent is out-of-game, just ask. You will still be sleeping in PC camp. If you are not comfortable sleeping in PC camp at all for safety or medical reasons, speak to Plot and we can accommodate you, but you still will have to have a body tag and phys rep that remains in-game. Please note that this rule is not so Plot can just murder anyone in their sleep who chooses to go out-of-game at night, we will not be mindlessly slaughtering people, so you should still go out-of-game if you are not comfortable being woken up in-character by someone coming into your tent. Notes:This game will include some horror elements. This may involve some physical contact with other players or game staff. If you are not comfortable with physical contact, please let us know before or during the game so that you will not experience any discomfort during the event. In addition, certain encounters in this game will be extremely high risk and can result in permanent character changes or death. These encounters will be clear at the event due to their nature. |
