7pm-9pm (or later, depending on everyone's energy, most Meetups have lasted until 10pm)

7-8 THIS MEETUP HAS BEEN MOVED TO COFFEE KLATCH across the street from the Vineyard/Foothill Starbucks, which is now closed.
8-10 We typically move the meeting to a place to eat; Round Table Pizza, Souplantation, Lucilles or just making a run to the grocery store and heading back to our place. There is no particular place.

Depending on whether we get new people to introduce LARP to or not, the conversations wander - sometimes about someone's player character, a game someone was at, etc. If we do, I usually start by launching into a history lesson; sometimes followed up by game mechanic, basic definitions, our local Calendar, our programs, and how to get into a game.

We do often have conversations of what the LARP Alliance is working on in terms of strengthening and growing the hobby, locally and abroad. Many of the people that attend the meetup are Board members on the Alliance, or members of a subcommittee.

Call me at 951) 809-1091 if you need directions or to verify what restaurant we might have moved to.

Any suggestions for future locations or days, please email us via http://www.LARPSpace.com (you all are members, right?)

6:30-7 pm: Arrival, basically just hang out untill everyone, or most everyone shows up.

7-8: Warm up, probably play a game of "Elsinore battle".

8-whenever: play a few different games, hang out, and fight.

Games:

Elsinore Battle.

-> each person starts with a basic shorter weapon, and extra weapons are scattered on the field, when you die you respawn at your spawn point, on a 3 count. you can pick up any weapon on the field, but when you die, you may only take 1 with you to respawn.

Gladiatus.

-> short gladiator weapons only, fight to the death.

Other.

->whatever the else we come up with.

What it is: An informal get together for Eidolon members where we polish our swordplay with combat games, improve our acting with theatre exercises, discuss LARP matters, and generally enjoy a day in the park.

Who can come: Anybody and everybody who's interested in Eidolon LARP. This is not an actual game event, so it's a great way to meet everybody outside the game. It's also an excellent way to get help with anything LARP related, such as costume making, aquiring props, crafting foam weapons, and character development (there are always GMs present to go aside and converse privately about your character.) All participants must come to at least one Sunday Practice before they can attend a Weekend Event.

Notes: The Coming Renaissance is a bi-weekly old World of Darkness Live Action Role Playing game set in a German town named Durlach in 1716. In our setting, Durlach is a dark town ruled over by an ancient vampire. In the surrounding Black Forest lie mysteries that not even the denizens of the woods fully understand. The Coming Renaissance is a multi-genre LARP using Mind's Eye Theater old World of Darkness rules. If you are new to the group and have not yet created a character please feel free to show up an hour early so the staff can assist you with the character creation process.

What to bring: Please bring a something to write with. You may also wish to bring a snack either for yourself or to share with folks as it is a 6 hour game ( usually there is a contingent of folks who heads to IHOP after each game to recap the excitement of the evening). Also please bring a warm jacket just in case.

Everyone is encouraged to wear a costume but it is not required.

Please feel free to invite anyone else you feel might be interested.

For current rules, questions, and to contact the Storyteller, please visit our website at:

Hope to see you all there!

Attention - All Live Combat and Theater Style LARPers!

A Gather is an in-game environment, something that is used for a backdrop for another game going on in the same environment.
I am going to run a Gather for AOKP Caledonia this Saturday. Huntington Beach Central Park, from 11am-6pm. Not sure of location, call me at 951 809-1091 if you get to the Park and I still haven't posted a location.

Bring your Renn outfits or starter armor; if you want to come in as a group of whoever, that's fine (no nobility or anyone terribly important). You could even bring in your favorite PC, sans the abilities. Maybe this is where the Wyrdlings can hang with characters from the Angel's Tear universe, or old IFGS characters can come out to share some bread and a flagon of something with the newer generation of adventurers.

If the PCs (Caledonia) talk to us, we are travelers or the locals, enjoying a nice day out and our traditional yearly faire.

I'll man the grill, and we will have a grand old party; teaching simple farmers to use the sword, contests of skill and skill at arms, etc.

Caledonia will have non-com roles to be filled, so if you are up for it, contact Rich, myself or Chris Vrem to see what roles are available.

And it's free!

If you have never been to a LARP game, this is an easy, free way to experience a game.

This is a beginner to intermediate level fighter practice. The term fighter practice was coined decades ago by one of the first LARPs, the IFGS. A class-based system, their "fighter" class inspired the term (combat practice is a more generalized term that is being used more nowadays).

At this practice, we teach the basics; how to use boffer, latex, or hybrid LARP weapons in combat and how combats play out in a Live Combat LARP. The safe and consistent use of these weapons is of primary importance to the practice. Additionally, skill levels begin to improve almost immediately when practices are attended on a regular basis.

Terminology that is used in games, from oog (out of game) calls to actual in-game mechanic calls are covered; we try to use different systems calls in a manner that is not confusing to the newcomer
We run many different form of combat games to help simulate situations. We give advice to to help improve game play on all levels - from how to survive from a player's perspective to being an effective opponent.

Some basics information regarding playing out roles in games are addressed; my perspective is that it comes naturally to most. In the near future, we will be compiling a composite system from the systems being used in the area; and create mini-characters to use in small story arcs and encounters. These can be used in the various combat games we run at this practice, and more heavily used in the more advanced practice we plan on running in the near future.

All are welcome, and as many questions that you can think of. We do have a short supply of weapons to loan out (we run weapon-building days to help everyone build their own basic sword), and have Iron Liege gear on hand to gawk at. :)

To learn the basics on foam weapon constuction for the LARP hobby. Our weapons are designed for lightest touch, moderate to heavy combat (not full contact). The class will last roughly two hours. $15 for materials if you want to keep the weapon you make.

We will also be doing field repairs on numerous weapons for our roadtrip to RoC. I'd like to get a few more shields built as well. If anyone is willing to donate to the cause, we need more camp-pad foam( Walmart or Big Five), simple paint brushes, razor blades (they sell them in 100 packs at Home Depot), dap contact cement (red can not the green), and women's hose (99 cent store - grey).

Typically we run til late, as everyone needs supervision and it all turns into a nice social get-together too.

Potluck on food, but we can cook up some hot dogs and such.

IF we have a new student, try not to hog my attention - I will try and focus on you and that's going to slow everything down! ACK!!!!

Don't forget, we accept donations! Help keep this going!
