SUMMARY:Inland Empire Fighter Practice
DESCRIPTION:LARP Alliance Meetup Group - SoCal\n\n~ Wear your LARP Alliance
Tshirts if ya got em! Get one if ya don't! :D ~ We also like to see costu
mes whenever you feel the desire to wear yours to practice. Once a month w
e all dress up to the hilt and snazz-out the practice field too! ~\n***\n\n
This is a beginner to intermediate level fighter practice. The term fighter
practice was coined decades ago by one of the first LARPs\, the IFGS. A cl
ass-based system\, their "fighter" class inspired the term (combat practice
is a more generalized term that is being used more nowadays).\n\nAt this p
ractice\, we teach the basics\; how to use boffer\, latex\, or hybrid LARP
weapons in combat and how combats play out in a Live Combat LARP. The safe
and consistent use of these weapons is of primary importance to the practic
 e. Additionally\, skill levels begin to improve almost immediately when pra
ctices are attended on a regular basis.\n\nTerminology that is used in game
s\, from oog (out of game) calls to actual in-game mechanic calls are cover
ed\; we try to use different systems calls in a manner that is not confusin
g to the newcomer\nWe run many different form of combat games to help simul
ate situations. We give advice to to help improve game play on all levels -
from how to survive from a player's perspective to being an effective oppo
nent.\n\nSome basics information regarding playing out roles in games are a
ddressed\; my perspective is that it comes naturally to most. In the near f
uture\, we will be compiling a composite system from the systems being used
in the area\; and create mini-characters to use in small story arcs and en
counters. These can be used in the various combat games we run at this prac
tice\, and more heavily used in the more advanced practice we plan on runni
ng in the near future.\n\nAll are welcome\, and as many questions that you
can think of. We do have a short supply of weapons to loan out (we run weap
on-building days to help everyone build their own basic sword)\, and have I
ron Liege gear on hand to gawk at. :)\n\n\nRick McCoy\nLARP Alliance\n\nRan
